Redemption Hill Church Boston Update August 2010
We’ve been in Medford for a little more than two months, and we are continuing to experience God’s kindness. We have many reasons to give him praise. Our Community Group is going very well. We have had several visitors and expect about five of them to stick with us. We have also spent time planning for future mission teams who will help us serve Medford through various service projects. Another highlight was spending time learning more about Tufts University. We are excited about students returning next month. Most importantly, we continue to engage our neighbors and new friends with the love of Christ. We are anxious to see some of them accept the gospel and follow Jesus. At the same time, we are reminded that Jim Wideman, the Director of the Baptist Convention of New England, has said, “We have discovered that almost 90% of New Englanders receive Christ based on established relationships, and over 70% of them take more than a year to make that decision.”
Finally, we continue to experience the Lord’s provision as individuals and churches choose to support our efforts. Two more churches have committed significant gifts that will put us on a firm foundation financially through our first year (provided that everyone fulfills their commitment)! Also, Hope Fellowship Church, our sponsoring church in Greater Boston is going to be encouraging some of their members to join us at Redemption Hill. Tanner will be preaching at Hope this Sunday (Aug. 22nd). Then on September 12th, the whole team will be introduced and prayed for by the members at Hope. We are very thankful for their partnership, encouragement, and kingdom-mindedness. Please join us in praying for the following specific requests:
- Pray that our neighbors would be open to the gospel as we strive to be bold and wise in our witness.
- Pray for Abbey Cook as she looks for a part-time job here in Medford. Ask the Lord to open up something that will help her connect with Tufts students.
- Pray that God would continue to send people to our Community Group and that we would multiply into two groups in September.
- Ask the Lord to show us specific needs around our city that will provide opportunities to display and declare the gospel.
- Pray for our partnership with Hope Fellowship. Ask God to stir some of their members who have servant-hearts and evangelistic fervor to join us at RHC.
Grateful for Jesus and You,
Redemption Hill Churc
